COMMERCIAL LITIGATION ATTORNEY NEEDED SAN DIEGO, CA

Sessions, Fishman, Nathan & Israel, L.L.P. has offices in New Orleans; San Diego; Fort Collins, Colorado; Tampa; Chicago; and Buffalo. The firm represents many local, national and international clients in litigated matters in state and federal courts throughout the United States. The San Diego office is currently staffed by one attorney serving as defense counsel in consumer litigation cases for various national corporations.

We are seeking an attorney to join the San Diego office.

General Summary:

Provide legal support for the defense of consumer and class action litigation and pre-litigation disputes before the federal and state courts of California, and assist the firm as national counsel managing litigation cases throughout the country. Provide legal support for various labor and employment cases brought in state and federal courts in California.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work closely with clients to investigate complaint allegations and determine the appropriate legal strategy to reach resolution.

• Draft responsive pleadings, including appropriate motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment.

• Prepare and respond to written discovery and support senior counsel in preparing for and taking depositions and significant court appearances.

• Appear in court for case management conferences, hearings and related matters.

• Deal directly with plaintiff counsel in negotiating settlements.

• Supervise and assist local counsel in management of national clients’ pending cases in other jurisdictions.


Job Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Minimum of three years experience as a litigation attorney.

• Experience in drafting, reviewing and preparing legal documents.

• Top 15% of class from an accredited law school.

• Admitted to the California Bar, additional states a plus.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.

• Experience in federal court a plus.

• Strong work ethic and the ability to self direct and manage a significant case volume.
