Since 1997, Peter has concentrated in labor and employment law devoting his practice exclusively to private sector labor and employment issues at the federal, state and administrative agency level. He has handled jury cases and non-jury cases in the federal and state courts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida, and has been directly involved in numerous matters before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations, New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, United States Department of Labor, and Pennsylvania Department of Labor. In addition, Peter has significant experience in the area of alternative dispute resolution, particularly, mediations and arbitrations of employment disputes and other related matters.
Peter represents employers in matters involving Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, the Florida Civil Rights Act, unlawful discrimination and/or harassment in the workplace, wrongful termination, retaliation in the workplace, civil and constitutional rights, tortious interference with a contract or prospective business relationship, negligent hiring/retention/supervision, unpaid wages and overtime compensation, severance agreements, unemployment compensation, workers compensation, and various other state and common law causes of action. He advises many small and medium-sized businesses on the creation and maintenance of employee documents, personnel files, employee handbooks/manuals, employment contracts, and audits for statutory compliance. He often conducts sexual harassment and other workplace training for businesses and their employees. Peter also possesses vast experience working with businesses on the creation and enforcement of non-competition agreements and other restrictive employment covenants that deal with the confidentiality of trade secret information and solicitation of employees.
Peter is admitted to the bars of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida, and maintains an active litigation practice in each state. He is also admitted to the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Eleventh Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for New Jersey, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Peter is an active member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, where he was previously an elected member of the Executive Committee of its Young Lawyers Division.
Peter is a cum laude graduate from the University of Miami School of Law (1997) and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from the University Scholars Program at The Pennsylvania State University (1994), where he graduated cum laude with an Honors Degree in Labor and Industrial Relations.
