Joy Goldberg Braun practices primarily
in the area of general litigation with emphases
in product liability, toxic torts and medical
malpractice. She represents manufacturers, including
makers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and automotives,
as well as health care providers. In 2001, The National
Law Journal recognized the efforts of
the defense team of which she was a member with
Defense Verdict of the Year. In Re: Gramercy
Plant Explosion at Kaiser.
In addition to her years of legal practice, Ms. Braun
has both the educational background of and practical
experience as a registered nurse which is of particular
importance in all litigation matters involving bodily
injury claims and other physiological concerns such
as toxic exposures.
Ms. Braun graduated with honors
from Duke University with a B.S.N. degree and
magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from the
Tulane University School of Law. She was presiding
judge of the Tulane Moot Court Board in 1980-81.
Upon graduation, she clerked for Justice Walter
F. Marcus of the Louisiana Supreme Court and then
for Judge Frederick J.R. Heebe, Chief Judge of
the United States District Court for the Eastern
District of Louisiana. She is a sustaining member
of the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC)
and a member of the Louisiana and New
Orleans Bar Associations, as well as the Louisiana
Association of Defense Counsel (LADC). She is also a Louisiana Bar Foundation Fellow and has
also served on the Louisiana State Bar Association’s
Medical/Legal Interprofessional Committee.
Ms. Braun has been a member of
the adjunct Trial Advocacy faculty for the Tulane
University School of Law. She also serves as Treasurer of the Governing Board
of Touro Infirmary and Vice-President of Board of Directors for WRBH,
a non-profit radio station for the print handicapped.
She is the immediate past Chair of the South Central Region
Advisory Board of the Anti-Defamation League and
serves as an ADL Associate National Commissioner.
